Something's gotta give
Have you ever been in a situation or circumstance so long that you feel like nothing
will ever change? You get frustrated because many times during those times in
life you look across the way and see countless others who seem to be doing so
much better than you; making more money than you; seemingly having a better life
than you. So what do you do? You pray and wait. You try positive self-talk desperately
attempting to convince yourself that things will change. You become familiar
with every cliche' that fits your situation. "I'm gonna wait until my change
comes", "I'm gonna hold on to God's unchanging hand", "He
may not come when we want him to but he's always..." you know the rest.
Temporarily you feel fine in the hopes that because you've prayed, had the church
pray for you, and you have inundated yourself with these "old time gospel"
cliches' that it almost time for things to change. Time passes by. You're still
living from check to check. You're still lonely. You still have bills rolling
in. You're still sick. Your marriage is still on the rocks. In frustration you
say... "something's gotta give". And you know what? You're right. However,
it may not be your spouse, or your money, or you bills or the size of your paycheck.
The word says in Romans 8:28 " Now we know that all things work together
for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose".
Notice it does not say that all things work together for good to them that get
a better job, or find a good man, or hit the jackpot, or get a second opinion.
It says "to them that love the Lord". If you have not been putting
the Lord first or if you have not been pointing your heart toward your Lord then
the key for changing your situation is changing yourself. Sometimes God will
not change your situation until we change ourselves; until our heart falls in
love with him. So yes! Something's gotta give; but someONE has to give first.
IF I CHANGE ME... HE WILL CHANGE THINGS AROUND ME.
God bless till next blog!
